The UAE Government, in partnership with the Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), has announced a new rule for the tourists and residents of the UAE. The new rule aims to target the overstaying of tourists despite getting their visas expired.

A fixed fine of 50 AED (Dirhams) per day will be charged to the individuals from the day of their visa expiry, including the grace period of the visa as well. It’s compulsory to pay the fine; otherwise, you can face complications at the time of exit from the UAE. More details can be found on the GDRFA website.

Overview of New Visa Rules in UAE

1. UAE Visa Stamping

In the updated UAE Visa version, the need to stamp the residence visa in the passport has been replaced with Emirates ID. Now, the residents don’t have to submit their passports for visa stamping as they can submit only one single application for their Emirates ID and Residency Visa in order to reduce the application time and ease the application process.

You’ll need to pay a 100 AED smart fee for your Emirates ID and Residence Visa according to the New Visa Rules in UAE update.

2. UAE Residence Visa Updated Rules

Now, UAE residents who want to change or update any personal information on their visas can do this online. Once the changes have been made and the application has been submitted, the respective changes will also be updated on their Emirates ID, and an application for Emirates ID will also be submitted automatically.

In order to change any information, you can visit the Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security website or by downloading the UAEICP App from Google or iOS App Store.

You can change the following details online on your residence visa:

  • Personal Information
  • Passport Information
  • Profession
  • Nationality

In order to get started to change your details online, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Colored photograph against a white background
  • A request to update data signed by the sponsor
  • Passport Copy
  • Emirates ID Front and Back Copy

3. UAE Entry Visa Updated Rules

The UAE Government has introduced 10 new entry visas for the residents in the New Visa Rules in UAE update, and there’s no requirement for any host or sponsor. The visa can be for single or multiple entries as well, and it’ll follow the same duration for all cases, i.e., 60 days from the date of issuance.

The 10 new entry visas are:

  • Business Entry Visa (For Entrepreneurs and Businessmen)
  • Job Exploration Visa (For skilled professionals who graduated from top 500 universities holding a bachelor’s degree)
  • Family Visa (Parents living in UAE can sponsor their children under the age of 25)
  • Multiple Entries Dubai Tourist Visa (Valid for 90 Days, and Visitors must show a bank statement of 14,700 AED from the last 6 months)
  • Entry Permit for Temporary Work Mission (Employers can sponsor workers for a Temporary Work Mission such as for project-based missions or any type of testing)
  • Entry Permit To Visit Relatives or Friends
  • Residence Permit for Humanitarian Cases
  • For Children of Parents of Foreign Passport Holders, UAE Citizen
  • For UAE Citizen’s Wife whose husband has passed, and she has one or more children.
  • For Children & Spouses of GCC National Foreign Passports Holder
  • Entry Permit for Training and Studying (It requires a sponsor letter from the University or Training Institute).
  • Dubai and UAE Re-Entry Permit (UAE Residency Visa Holders can apply for Re-Entry Permit if they’re living outside the UAE for more than 6 months)
  • UAE Entry Permit Extension (Can be extended up to 90 days)

4. UAE Visit Visa Updated Rules

Let’s have a look at the updated UAE visit visa rules.

UAE Visit Visa Extension

Now, according to the new UAE Visit Visa update, travelers can get a 30 days visa extension on their 90-day visit visa. A total of 90 days visa extension can be obtained. A fee of 600 AED will be applied every time the visit visa is extended.

Now, tourists don’t need to leave the UAE and then re-enter for this extension. You can extend your visa while living in UAE, but make sure to extend your visa before expiry. You can perform the whole procedure online either at ICP’s website or through UAEICP App.

UAE Visit Visa Price Update

There has been an increase in UAE visit visa prices by 100 AED. Now, the fee for a 30-day visit visa has been increased from 270 AED to 370 AED, as confirmed by ICP Customer Agent.

UAE Visit Visa Overstay Update

Visitors and Foreigners overstaying in UAE must get a leave or pass permit before exiting the country. Leave or pass permit can be obtained from Al Awir Immigration Office, Land Borders, or Airport by paying a fee of 200 AED to 300 AED.

Before leaving the country, the overstayer must pay a fine of 50 AED per day multiplied by their number of stays, including a 10-day grace period for a visit visa as well.

Note: There’s no fine for those who were unable to leave UAE due to the closure of the Airport.

UAE Unused Visit Visa Update

Travelers or tourists holding an unused visit visa while residing in UAE must cancel their visa within the specified time, and it can cost up to 300 AED depending upon the category. Travelers can also extend their visas for 200 AED. It’s important to cancel the visit visa as if not done, it can create issues for the approval of the new visa by UAE Immigration.

5. Golden Visa Updated Rules

The UAE Government has expanded Golden Visa categories, and its validity has also been increased to 10 years. Now, golden visa holders can sponsor their workers or family members without any limit. The following categories are eligible for a Golden Visa.

Skilled Professionals

Skilled professionals are eligible for a golden visa in the New Visa Rules in UAE update if:

  • The minimum monthly salary is greater than 30,000 AED.
  • Hold a legit UAE employment contract.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Job must be under Occupational Level One or Level Two by MOHRE.

Scientists

Researchers and scientists can also qualify for golden visas if

  • Hold a Master’s or Ph.D. Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, and Technology from the World’s Top Universities.
  • Visa recommendation from Emiratis Scientists Council.

Real Estate Investors

Real Estate Investors can also acquire a Golden Visa if they buy a property worth 2 Million AED either through loans from authorized banks or by buying off-plan properties worth not less than 2 AED Million.

Exceptional Talents

Exceptionally talented individuals from any field, including sports, art, medicine, culture, digital technology, innovation, and law, can also apply to get Golden Visa in the New Visa Rules in UAE update. 6. Green Visa Updated Rules

Now, the UAE Green Visa duration has been updated to 5 Years of validity in order to attract freelancers, investors, skilled professionals, and entrepreneurs in the New Visa Rules in UAE update. Green Visa Holders can also sponsor their first-degree relatives to UAE for the exact same duration as their own.

Freelancers and Self Employers

In order to promote the freelancing industry, the UAE Government has taken the initiative to provide a five-year green visa to freelancers without any need for a sponsor or work permit.

Some of the requirements that should be fulfilled are:

  • They should be able to prove their financial strategy throughout their stay.
  • They should obtain a Freelancing/Self-Employment permit from MOHRE.

Skilled Employees

Those skilled employees who don’t have any sponsor can also apply for a green visa card as long as they fulfill the following criteria:

  • They should be declared as occupational level one, level two, or level three employees by MOHRE.
  • Must hold a valid employment contract.
  • The monthly salary should not be lower than 15,000 AED.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s or equivalent degree.

Partner or Investor

In order to promote businesses, UAE has taken the initiative by allowing investors or partners to come to UAE and invest in UAE in the New Visa Rules in UAE update. Now, they can apply for a 5-year green visa. Previously it was 2 years, but now it has been changed to 5 years.

Investors should fulfill the following criteria:

  • They should get approval from local authorities.
  • Approval and Proof of investment should be taken.
  • In the case of an investor having more than one license, invested capital will be calculated.

7. Three-Year Work Permit Update Rules

The work permit duration has been extended from two years to three years by UAE’s Federal National Council (FNC) in the New Visa Rules in UAE update in order to lessen the financial burden. Anyhow, the work permit issued by MOHRE is still valid for two years.

8. Five-Year Residency Visa for Children of Emirati Women
