How To Apply For A New Emirates ID?

1. Application Process for Expats

If you’ve been hired by a UAE Company, then the company’s employer is responsible for applying for your UAE ID Card. You can apply for your E-ID Card either through ICP’s Customer Happiness Centers or by filling out and submitting your application online at ICP’s Smart Services website.

If you’re going to get an independent visa in the UAE, you can apply for your E-ID yourself, and you can also apply for your family member’s E-ID online.

In order to apply for an ID card, you need the following documents:

  • Original Legit Passport
  • Original Valid Entry Permit or Residency Visa
  • 4.5 x 3.5 cm personal photographs against a white background.
  • For residents under the age of 15
  • Original Valid Birth Certificate.
  • E-ID Card or Passport of one of the parents.

Procedure (For Expats)

The Expats can follow the below procedure to apply for a new ID Card.

  • Step 1: Visit the official ICA Smart Services website or UAEICP App.
  • Step 2: Register your UAE Pass and log in.
  • Step 3: Fill in the application form for a new ID Card.
  • Step 4: Pay the fee and submit the application.
  • Step 5: If you’re applying for the first time, you’ll be asked to go to the ICP’s Customer Happiness Center for Biometric Verification.
  • Step 6: Once your Biometric Verification is done, you’ll receive your ID Card within 2 days to 2 weeks.

You’ll receive a text on your registered mobile number along with a PRAN or IDN number with which you can check your Emirates ID Status and your expected delivery time. Once your card has been prepared and dispatched for delivery, you can track your ID card at Emirates ID Tracking. You’ll receive the text once your ID card has reached the nearby Customer Happiness Center. You can pick your card from there. You can also apply for a home delivery by paying an additional fee.

You can also apply for a new ID card at any ICP Customer Service Center and ask the ICP Customer Representative to fill in the application on your behalf.

You can receive your ID card within 24 hours in case of emergency by applying through FAWRI Service by paying an additional fee of 150 AED.

2. Application Process for UAE Nationals

Being a UAE National, you can apply for a new ID Card by going to any Customer Happiness Center or visiting ICP’s website.

In order to apply for the new ID card, you must have the following documents:

  • 4.5 x 3.5 cm personal photographs against a white background.
  • Valid Passport
  • Original Valid Family Book (Required only when applying through typing centers).
  • For children under the age of 15
  • Child’s photograph according to ICP’s guidelines.
  • Population Registered ID Number (For The New Born)
  • Valid Birth Certificate.
  • Copy of the Passport or UAE ID of one of the parents.

Once reach the specified ICP customer service center, you’ll receive a text to pick up your card. If you fail to pick up your card within 90 days, your card will be sent back and will be made redundant.

If you’re a GCC National, you can either apply for a new ID card at the Customer Happiness Center or online at the ICP Official website.

You need the following documents if you’re a GCC National while applying for a new ID Card.

  • An Original Valid Passport
  • GCC ID Card
  • For residents under the age of 21
  • One of the parents’ GCC ID Card
  • 4.5 x 3.5 cm personal photographs against a white background.
  • Original Agency Certificate of The Sponsor (Required only if the applicant is not available at the Customer Happiness Center)
  • For Children Under The Age of 15
  • Valid Birth Certificate
  • Passport or UAE ID Card of one of the parents
  • Proof of Residency (You can submit any one of the following)
  • Original Legit Trade License
  • Valid Ownership of a Commercial or Residential Property
  • Valid Continuation of Study Certificate
  • Original Legit Work Certificate from Authorized Centers
  • Work Contract Certified By MoHRE
  • Valid documents proving Kinship with the Citizen to 3rd Degree, such as birth certificate, family book, or marriage certificate.
