It’s important to note that expats can’t cancel their visas. Only their sponsors can cancel their visas on their behalf. Anyhow, if the expats hold an Investor visa, then they can cancel their own visas as well.

Employers will need to clear the pending salary, gratuity, and leave salary entitlements and provide an aeroplane ticket before cancelling their work permit with MoHRE.

How To Apply for UAE Visa Cancellation?

You can cancel your UAE visa through various methods. Let’s have a look at them.

1. Through the ICP Website or UAEICP App

Follow the steps below to get started.

  • Step 1: Visit the official ICP website.
  • Step 2: From the header, click on “Services for Individuals“.
  • Step 3: Select “Cancel Residency Permit” and click on “Start Service“.

2. Through the GDRFAD Website or App

You can also apply for the cancellation of your UAE Visa through the GDRFAD website or their official app.

Automatic Cancellation of UAE Visa

If any Expats leave UAE without cancelling their residency visa and remain outside UAE for more than 6 months, their UAE visa will be automatically cancelled. Anyhow, you’ll not be charged anything for it, but you’ll not be able to reenter UAE without adequately cancelling your UAE visa, and the only way to cancel your visa is with the help of your previous sponsor.

Cancellation and Extension of Unused Visit Visas

If you have a UAE Visit Visa and you can’t check in within the validity period in UAE, then you can extend your visit visa for an additional period of 60 days for 200 AED.

In case you have a visit visa and do not want to extend your visa, then you’ll need to cancel your visa by going to ICA’s Smart Services website. If not cancelled, you’ll not be able to apply for a new UAE visa in the future.

You can cancel your unused visit visa for anywhere between 160 AED to 300 AED.
